Chief Instructor/Kru
Trainee Instructor
My name is Rachel Gledhill and I have been Thaiboxing for over twelve years and teaching for nearly 4.
Red Kite is affiliated with the UKMF who is striving to become the only National Sporting Body for Muay Thai. Red Kite is now over 3 years old and the classes have grown a great deal.
As one of only 6 women in the Country that I know of that run they're own Thai Boxing gym, I am very pleased with how it is going and the loyalty and dedication my students new and old have shown. We train for fun, for gradings (Examined by Sandy Holt of Bolton Thai Boxing) and for competitions and of course to keep fit! There is no obligation to be involved in all these activities and many of my students have different goals with regards to their training.
Since we opened in November 07, we have entered into Inter Club Fights where novices can experience what it is like to compete in a ring and in front of an audience. We have done gradings where everyone passed with excellent grades and have had one great success in an actual competition where Tommy Holden won his fight by technical knock out in the third round of his fight at Boltons Ikon Night Club in the 'North West Verse's the rest of the UK' thai boxing event as organised by Sandy Holt, footage of which can be see on P4TV.com.
I am now lucky enough to have a Trainee Coach called Tom Brodie. He's been training with me for 2 years and has shown a great deal of skills and determination. He often takes cardio classes and puts some of our budding fighters through their paces.
Please keep checking on our site and feel free to join in the forum. I hope you enjoy the Red Kite site and more importantly, I hope you might like to bob down and try a class or at least come and watch and see what you think.....but I warn you in advance.......if you do decide to come and watch, bring your shorts or track suits bottoms as I guarantee you'll want to join in!!!
